About the Toledo Lighthouse
On a crib where Maumee Bay meets Lake Erie
The Toledo Lighthouse is located about five miles off shore, north of Maumee Bay State Park. The lighthouse marks the Toledo shipping channel where the waters of Lake Erie meet the shallow waters of Maumee Bay. The lighthouse can be seen from Maumee Bay State Park; there is a viewer near the marina to bring it up close. The Romanesque design lighthouse was completed on May 23, 1904, and is architecturally unique with buff brick and a rolled edge steel roof. The lighthouse is 4000 sq. ft. and stands 64' high. Armour was added to three sides of the base of the lighthouse in 1989, when the lighthouse was secured by the Army Corps of Engineers. Restoration
First Floor Toledo Lighthouse Windows Shutters - Restoration Phase One
The first floor windows and shutters were purchased and brick tuck work are installed through grants, members and fundraiser at a cost of $750,000. There is light coming in when the shutters are open from the first floor windows - first time since the windows were cement blocked in 1989. Remaining windows and exterior work, followed by infrastructure—plumbing, electric and then finishing. Once completed, four people will be at the lighthouse welcoming guests from spring through fall.

The Toledo Lighthouse 3.5-order Fresnel LensAt the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Nature Center at Maumee Bay State Park and can be seen on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10-4 and on Friday and Saturday from 10-5. Thanks to lampist Kurt Fosberg who led the moving effort and to all who helped. The Toledo Lighthouse Society is excited to work with ODNR on the display that we hope that will tell the story of the lighthouse and ships that have traversed the Toledo shipping channel.

My Window, My Step Capital Campaign
This is a capital campaign to have naming rights to the risers on the steps. If there is no riser, the step number and name will be placed near the stairway where the steps are located. ‘My Toledo Lighthouse Step’ cost for steps between the first and second floor is $700 each. The cost for the second to third floor is $600 each. Circular tower steps (two floors) are $500 each; cellar and annex steps are $350 each. There are a total of nearly 100 steps. Help the lighthouse and be remembered—name a step for yourself, grandchildren, and other friends and family. Your specific step will be determined at a drawing when the Phase One Restoration project is complete. Thanks for your interest in the Toledo Lighthouse. For questions, call/email: Dan Hall, 734-572-5813; [email protected]. Step Naming Rights Form also contact Dan for information on naming rights for windows (1st, 2nd, 3rd floor sold out; annex, cellar, and top tower remain).
